Bloomington Chamber Singers is a 40-voice choir of volunteers from around the Bloomington area, directed by Dr. Gerald Sousa. We provide an opportunity for amateur singers, under the direction of a professional conductor, to perform major choral-orchestral works at a high level of musical excellence.

Bloomington Chamber Singers strives to inspire audiences of all backgrounds, including those unfamiliar to choral or classical music. We believe that music can be a powerful platform for social change. Our members share a deep sense of pride, passion, and belonging that honors a diverse tapestry, and are unified in our shared commitment to excellence, integrity, and inclusion. We sing music that helps to transform the human spirit, expand awareness, and pursue a vision of justice for people of all races, cultures, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

Community members seeking an opportunity to sing great choral music are invited to audition for the Bloomington Chamber Singers. Prospective members should have experience singing in a chorus, and be able to read a choral score. If you are interested in joining us, contact us at
