The African American Arts Institute (AAAI) is the nation's first and only credit-bearing collegiate program dedicated to preserving and promoting Black culture through the performing arts. Founded in 1974 at Indiana University Bloomington, the AAAI is comprised of three student performing ensembles: African American Choral Ensemble directed by Raymond Wise, African American Dance Company directed by Stafford C. Berry Jr., and IU Soul Revue directed by James Strong.
